Therapeutic Approach

When working with children, adolescents, and their families, I focus on strengthening resiliency. Resiliency allows us to overcome life’s challenges and supports our ability to make meaning from our experiences. The foundation of resiliency for children and adolescents comes from the caregiving system. I support caregivers by being curious about their experience and helping to support their understanding of their child’s needs, and how to effectively respond to those needs. This includes providing psychoeducation, building predictable routines, behavior management strategies, and supporting the caregiver(s) in managing their own emotional experience. When meeting with children and adolescents, the work often includes improving their emotion regulation capacities while increasing their ability to connect with others, engage in purposeful decision-making, and developing a positive sense of self.

I have a flexible approach depending on the needs of the youth and their families. I tend to integrate therapeutic modalities that will best engage the child or adolescent. This includes utilizing therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Play Therapy.

I have been honored to witness the personal growth, and improved mental wellbeing, of my clients and look forward to supporting your child and family through that journey.
