Therapeutic Approach

We all carry our life experiences with us, which influence our personalities, choices and life challenges. These experiences may include a long-term trauma history or more recent stressors, any of which may lead you to feeling depressed, anxious, traumatized, disconnected from yourself and others, or perhaps simply lost and unsure of your next move. You may have developed unhealthy coping patterns, such as substance abuse or other harmful behaviors, that have led you to unsatisfying life choices.

I believe in tailoring therapy to the person, not the other way around. I believe it is my duty to learn your “language” and work with you in an integrative and collaborative manner and assessing which modalities are beneficial to you at any given time. I want you to feel deeply seen and heard, while also trusting that you will be skillfully challenged when needed. I offer holistic trauma-informed therapy that helps people make sense of their lives so they can reclaim them and move toward healing with self-compassion and clarity. When you join me for therapy, our sessions are a space where your body can finally exhale and relax. Together, we will explore your story, so you can focus on long-term change and build lasting strategies for a more fulfilling, connected life.

I specialize in working with individuals who are experiencing anxiety, depression and other overwhelming emotions, who desire more emotional intimacy and connection in relationships, or who want to change harmful or unfavorable patterns. I have a particular passion for working with individuals with trauma histories that include mental illness, substance abuse and addiction. The primary therapeutic modalities I pull from for all of my clients include: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Attachment Theory, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Internal Family Systems, EMDR, and Motivational Interviewing.

Perhaps you have already tried therapy, and yet deeper symptoms persist or you feel ready to do a new piece of work. With a renewed sense of curiosity you can further strengthen your foundation for healing and recovery. Having witnessed the functional improvements that come with briefer, skill based therapy as well as the profound and transformational benefits that long-term, depth therapy brings, I wholeheartedly believe that people can rise and thrive, not just survive.
