Life can be a beautiful rollercoaster of ups and downs, big wins and big letdowns. I help provide a safe space to navigate, process, and better understand things that impact you. Each client has the capacity to build skills, gain a deeper understanding of self, and live their life in the way they choose. My clients are the ones who do the work in session. You will identify goals and decide the direction we take. I help you to identify the root causes of symptoms you may be experiencing and gain a better understanding of how those issues affect your daily life.
The therapeutic approach I use is customized to the needs of my client. My work can be pulled from a variety of methods found within person-centered therapy, multicultural theory (anti-oppressive and culturally-affirming work), cognitive behavior therapy, attachment theory, and emotionally focused therapy. I also incorporate somatic and mindfulness practices to help support clients in regulating the nervous system and decreasing the physical symptoms they may be experiencing.
Julie has spent 25 years working in education as a teacher, administrator and education consultant. Her work has prepared her for clinical therapy as she has supported and guided children, parents, and teachers through decades of learning, crisis management, and navigating the changing landscape of society and unsteady political climates.
In addition to individual therapy, Julie will be forming groups to support client needs and will also be providing workshops for parents of children. Some areas of focus:
- Identifying as a single-person and the issues related to staying single
- Parent support group for parents of children and teens questioning and/or identifying as LGBTQIA+
- Parenting
- Grief and Loss
- Adult children as Caregivers of parents
- Support group for those who identify as male
- Social justice group
- Multiracial support groups and those with racial trauma
